Can Obama’s National Security Team Makes The Change?
Meet the Obama Team!
President-elect Barack Obama officially announced yesterday an interesting diverse mix of national security team that could probably shape the need of ‘rebalancing the America’s national security portfolio.’ Here are the newly appointed members of his administration that have taken the plum positions:
1. Eric Holder (Attorney General) - Eric joined then-Illinois Senator Barack Obama in 2007 as a senior legal advisor for presidential campaign and was a key person in selecting Obama’s vice presidential selection committee. Like Obama, Holder’s appointment was also historic as he will become the first African-American Attorney General of the United States of America. Holder will be responsible with the legal affairs and is the chief law enforcement officer of the U.S. government.
2. Hillary Clinton (Secretary of State) – 2008 Democratic Presidential Nominee and New York Senator Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton has added again another feather to her cap as the former first lady is now set to become Obama’s Secretary of State. As the highest-ranking cabinet secretary both in line of succession and precedence, Hillary’s main role relates to foreign affairs.
3. James L. Jones (National Security Advisor) – General James Logan Jones Jr is the former Supreme Allied Commander, Europe (SACEUR), Commander of the United States European Command (COMUSEUCOM) and served as the 32nd Commandant of the Marine Corps. His retirement from the marine led him to diplomatic duties as he served as a special envoy for the Middle East Security by Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on November 2007, working with Israelis and Palestinians to strengthen security for both sides. Now as a National Security Advisor under the Obama administration, he will serve as the chief adviser to the President of the United States on national security issues. Jones will also serve on the National Security Council with the Executive Office of the President.
4. Janet Napolitano (Secretary of Homeland Security) – Napolitano is the current governor of Arizona and a member of the Democratic Party. Originally elected in 2002 and re-elected in 2006, she was a chairwoman of two state Governor’s associations and named by Time as one of the top 5 USA Governors in 2005. As the first ever woman designated to hold a position of a Secretary of Homeland Security, Napolitano is concerned with protecting the American homeland and the safety of American citizens.
5. Robert Gates (Secretary of Defense) – Previously voted as one of the most influential people in 2007, Robert Michael Gates has accepted the offered by President-elect Obama of the continued position as Defense Secretary under his administration. Gates will be one of the few people to hold a Cabinet-level position under two Presidents of different parties. As the person sixth in the presidential line of succession, his main concerns are to take care of the armed services and military matters. Gates will also continue to be responsible for the formulation of general defense policy related to all matters of direct and primary concen to the US Department of Defense.
6. Susan Rice (United States Ambassador to the United Nations) – Susan Elizabeth Rice is a former Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs during Clinton’s second term in 2001, a foreign policy aide to Michael Dukakis during the 1988 presidential election and was management consultant at McKinsey & Company in the early 1990s. As an American foreign policy expert, President-elect Barack Obama designated her to be an Ambassador to the United Nations.
I must say that the fine list of ‘experts’ will surely make Obama’s administration a strong team since the personalities seems to be very dynamic.
So, could this change America? And… do you find them a good fit for the role?

actually if you follow Obama’s nominees, halo say with frenemies hahaha and i think naleksyon sya ni Bush who was a complete disaster and Bill na muntik nang ma-impeach.
Presidents by themselves are not really powerful. It’s the numbers game in the Congress and while me number sya, he can be powerful but alam mo what’s important dito samen sa US, is public approval ratings. Oras na pumalya sya here, etong mga nominees nya, magtatalunan sa bintana ang mga yan.

I think those adviser can do something, because they will not be chosen if they don;thave a proper experience
