Bloggery Buzz of the Week (01.12.2009)

Your dear Snow is a little bit late with the bloggery buzz for this week but it does not mean that I have forgotten all about it! Anyway, listed below are my top picks for this week:

1. Bonnet’s Bizarre Baby Name

1

I must say that Lisa Bonet (“The Cosby Show”) and her husband Jason Momoa has done a fine job naming their first child Lola Lolani Momoa as her name is a little acceptable nowadays. But the couple’s newborn may have a big tantrum whenever he writes his odd name. Gosh, Nakoa-Wolf Manakauapo Namakaeha Momoa is such a looong name and may not fit into a drivers’ license. Oh boy, best of luck to the kiddo! Goodness — and… we all think that Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have the oddest names to their children. *lol*

2. The Bernard Madoff Scandal

2

Not long ago, Bernard Maddoff was running a sophisticated Ponzi scheme in the history with having international banks, firms, institutions and even celebrities as clients. But the whole scheme has ended when the FBI agents arrested him and charged him with investor fraud. You’ll definitely be amazed on how Maddoff’s mind works as he was able to pull it off for about 10 years! So what do Steven Spielberg, Kevin Bacon, New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg and Royal Bank of Scotland now have in common? They now belong to the list of people and institutions swindled by Madoff!

3. Read-Along with Kris Aquino

3

I salute Kris Aquino, Chris Tiu and the Inquirer in encouraging young kids to read as I personally believe that reading quality books serve as a backbone of wisdom. Kudos to all of you and may you continue to give inspirations to all the kids of Philippines with the campaign.

4. Prince Harry the Racist?

4

Britain’s Prince Harry apologized for the racism remarks caused by a self-filmed video that was released by the News of the World showing him calling “Paki” and “raghead” to army colleagues. Harry, the 3rd in line of the throne already issued an apology with the emphasis that he used the term without malice! Hmmm…

5. Dead Somali Pirate found dead with $153,000 of Ransom

5

Residents of Mogadishu in Somalia reported Sunday that a body of Somali pirate was found dead after receiving a huge ransom washed onshore with $153,000 in cash. Actually, five pirates were drowned Friday when their small boat overturned after they received $3 million ransom for releasing a Saudi oil tanker. So, the authorities are still looking for the four pirates in the ocean. Please read on the link above for more info. ;)

6. Brodett Family Feud?

6

Richard and Myra Brodette both accused their son Dave and his wife Marissa of revenge triggered by longstanding family feud over money. Richard and Myra also added that the other Brodett couple said those things in purpose to vicioyusly malign the family. Follow what’s happening in “The Alabang Bribery Case” in this link.

And lastly, for the lighter side of the news…

7. Manny Pangilinan’s Success Story

7

Please don’t forget to read Manny Pangilinan’s success story at Tyrone’s blog (Millionaire Acts). Yep, a must read as it discussed about Mr. Pangilinan’s humble beginnings before he was widely recognized for his outstanding achievements in business.

So, there you have it guys and gal, the above blogs and news rounds up my bloggery buzz for the week! For more exciting featured blogs this week, please don’t forget to read Reyna Elena’s Royal Blog Santacruzan for the week! :)

Until next week friends… ;)

BTW, I’m still reading Bernard Maddoff sibling who he ransacked too. There’s Bernard Madoff in the Philippines remember? Royal Manchester Trading.

    Reply from Snow
Yep, there was a company named Royal Manchester Five Trading ran by a certain Cyrus Yap Hao. He’s a young man probably in late 20s or early 30s. The RMFY was said to be a foreign currency investment company that duped thousands of investors of money amounting to more than P2.1 billion (US$51 million). Hmmm, I believe he is still wanted by the police but I am not sure about the status of the case. :(

malas naman ng mga pirates. why didn’t they bring a much reliable pirate ship?

    Reply from Snow
hindi masyadong mautak na mga pirates. pero sa tingin ko ceblogger, karma yan! :(

  10. ceblogger says:

Ms. Bonnet’s kid can change his name at a later date. or maybe perhaps adopt an alias, say Wolf.
As to the Prince, he should be more careful next time. The British royalty is closely followed, monitored and scrutinized by media.

    Reply from Snow
I agree with you…puede naman kasi sa US magpalit ng name. Dito rin naman puede basta patunayan lang na hindi appropriate sa yo yung name. As for Prince Harry, tsk..tsk…what did he think ba kasi when he said these things? If only Diana was alive…tskk.tsk..

  13. Sofie says:

    Hello Snow,

Ok na rin si Kris Aquino for encouraging children to read books, basta quality and educational ba e. Hmmmm… how are you going to gage quality books? :)

    Reply from Snow
Hello Sofie, tingin ko Kris is doing a fine job to promote reading books. How shall I gauge quality books? I believe the alamat and history books written by respectable writers will do our children well…reading nowadays is hard to persuade in a kid lalo na kung sanay pasttime eh psp at game boy… :( ;)

  14. Fatherlyours says:

Last year todo takot ako dyan ha, kasi dumaan sa Gulf of Aden ang barkong sinasakyan nila hubby. Hindi kaya ako nakatulog noon, paano 1 week akong walang balita after. Napa-praning talaga ako haha. Buti walang sumampa sa kanilang pirata, sadly yung sumunod sa kanilang barko nabalitaan nilang nahi-jack. :(

  20. kengkay says:

This is what I think about the Royal bank of scotland. RBS boss Fred goodwin should be stripped of the pension he doesn’t deserve. If they pay him a profit related percentage he will get minus figures. Taking away his pension is the best option.
