‘Fantasy Island’ Star Ricardo Montalban dies at 88
Montalban as Mr. Roarke in Fantasy Island
Ricardo Montalban, the Mexican-born actor who starred in several MGM musicals and later as the wish-fulfilling Mr. Roarke in the hit television series “Fantasy Island,” died Wednesday morning (January 14, 2009) at his home, his family said. He was 88.
Montalban was an Emmy Award winner in 1978, and a Lifetime Achievement Awardee from the Screen Actors Guild in 1993. During the 1980s, he continued to perform, often providing voices for animated films and commercials.
Montalban is survived by daughters Laura and Anita, sons Victor and Mark and six grandchildren.
