Schoolgirl Starved to Death after Dental Operation
An 8-year old British girl who was terrified of dentists refused to eat or even talk after all her milk teeth were taken out has been reported dead last December 2, 2008. The kid named Sophie Waller was found dead in her bed at home despite attempts to feed her and treating the trauma caused by the dental operation.
It was later noted by a pathologist to the inquest that Sophie had died of acute renal failure from starvation and dehydration.
As a mother, I personally believe that the parents should have taken precautions in encouraging the child to undergo a dental operation. Gosh, I mean – a single tooth extraction can make an adult petrified to see the dentist so what more for an 8-year old child to be pulled out of all her baby teeth?
I honestly find this news so tragic and I personally believe that the child’s death is senseless. To Sophie, God bless you and I hope you are now happy in heaven.

naku naman kasi…bakit hindi na lang hinintay nung peyrents na kusang malagas yung mga baby teeth. kahit sinong pontio pilato talagang magto-trauma sa tumataginting na 8 ngipin na sabay-sabay bubunutin!
Oh my gulay.Hindi na baling bulok ang ipin kaysa naman todas. What a waste of life. Nung araw naman kasi itinatali lang sa pinto ang ipin na bubunotin eh. hehehe.

This is sad news, and I pity the poor girl. I hate to blame her parents, but I think children at this age is a full responsibility of parents.
I wish this will never happen again to any child.

It is not easy for kids to understand and accept this. Kung isang ngipin lang masakit na, mabunutan kaya ng lahat ng baby teeth.
I couldn’t imagine how this happened. Being a parent myself, even at the first sign of my child not eating would freak me out. Skipping a single meal could still be remedied but not meals would already mean a trip to the hospital.

I am sure the mother had good intentions for the operations, permanent teeth would come out nicely without those milk teeth on their way… but just as you have written, we adults are even terrified of just one tooth extraction, how much more a kid with all hers… sigh!
