Why did you recant ‘Nicole’?

In the sudden turn of events, Suzette Nicolas (aka Nicole) surprisingly recanted her statement that she was raped by Lance Corporal Daniel Smith in 2005. In fact, Nicole admitted from the sworn statement submitted last February 18 that it was a consensual encounter.
Apparently, the girl who cried rape at the sensational Subic Rape Case packed her bags because she finally got a US Visa and a pocket money worth 100,000 pesos (approximately close to US$2,000) from Cpl Daniel Smith. Her mother also made an announcement that she has flown to the United States to live with her new American boyfriend.
From the looks of it, Nicole gave an absolute upset from her supporters. In fact, I am currently wondering what the politicians, the women’s right activists and the media people are thinking. However, if you would ask my opinion, I strongly felt that her retraction left a bad image of a Filipina across the globe and sadly, at her own whim of going to the land of milk and honey.
So, why did you recant now, Nicole? Was it because you have finally reached your American dreams at the expense of the Filipino people? Please don’t get me wrong here but I don’t buy your idea that there was no justice given for you because a lot of people have rallied to support you. The wrongfully accused American was even jailed in the Makati prison, for Pete’s sake!
You are unbelievable Nicole! I really can’t imagine how many more people is like you that who would shame the country just to reach a selfish dream! May your conscience be bothered by this for the rest of your life…
