Carrie Prejean: Miss California USA 2009

Meet Carrie Prejean, the controversial Miss California USA 2009 who got a difficult question from Perez Hilton, a gay celebrity blogger during the Miss USA 2009 Beauty Pageant.

A transcript of Perez Hilton’s question to Carrie Prejean is here:

Perez Hilton: Vermont recently became the 4th state to legalize same-sex marriage. Do you think every state should follow suit. Why or why not?

Prejean: Well I think its great that Americans are able to choose one or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman. No offense to anybody out there, but that’s how I was raised and that’s how I think it should be between a man and a woman. Thank you very much.

Though, Miss California was named as first runner-up to Kristen Dalton of North Carolina in the last night’s pageant, the answer caused a serious backstage blowup and some bloggers are even making a big deal out of the answer. In fact, Perez Hilton was so upset about her answer  that he created an extremely angry vlog entry on his site.

Honestly, I do not find her answer bad at all. Based on her answer, I also believe that she respect equality among all people in the world.  But just like everyone else, she is entitled to her own opinion so let us all respect that.

I don’t find anything wrong with her answer either… she didn’t disrespect anyone.

It’s ironic that while some sector would want respect, yet they can’t accept (and respect) an honest answer.

  4. I agree. I didn’t find anything wrong with her answer. She was in fact very sincere. She knew she would not please everybody but she went on and answered truthfully. What’s wrong with that?

I don’t know bakit naging controversial yung sagot nya. It was her own opinion. It was an honest answer. Paniniwala nya yun eh. People should respect her stand on same sex marriage the same as those who are not against it.

  9. Nova says:

I do agree with you, i don’t see any mistakes on her answers especially when she said that its her opinion and she was raised by that way, you couldn’t force a person who won’t agree of same sex marriage. she might be open into some thing but not that way… they just want to campaign of the same-sex marriage which i do find it very ridiculous…

im continually wandering all across the internet the majority of the evening which means that I have a tendency to peruse an awful lot, which is not normally a good thing as a great number of the pages I look at are constructed of unnecessary crap copied from several other web sites a million times, but I gotta say this blog is in reality readable and has got a bit of unique content, for that reason thank you for breaking the fad of basically copying other individual’s sites :)
