It is a joyous time once again for a pageant fanatic like me as Miss Universe, the world’s most prestigious beauty pageant is now kicking off at the gorgeous country of the Bahamas. Way to go Donald Trump for a very cool venue this year as the place looks like a paradise to me!

A total of 84 beauty queens from different countries are now competing for the 2009 title and this includes our very own Miss Paula Bianca Manalo, a 22 year old flight attendant, a fashion model and a member of a beauty queen clan here in the Philippines.

Interestingly, the girls have just finished competing on their national costumes in the Rainforest Theater at the Wyndham Hotel in Nassau, Bahamas last August 10. Diana Broce, Miss Panama Universe 2009 bested the 83 contestants on the said event. Pictured below is her winning costume:

Best of luck Bianca! I am keeping my finger crossed here that you will bring home the crown this year! And by the way before you proceed, please do read Mel Beckham‘s blog entry on a certain contestant so that you will become emotionally ready in time for the finals. Whoa, the advice are worth the read!

The Miss Universe 2009 competition will air live on the NBC Television Network at 9:00 PM ET from ATLANTIS, Paradise Island, Bahamas on Sunday, August 23, 2009.
