No more strong typhoon, please!

Typhoon Ondoy (International Name: Typhoon Ketsana) has literally swept the Metro Manila area and the neighboring provinces last week (September 26-27) when the typhoon submerged the country into waters. This deadly typhoon killed almost 300 people and has also damaged P5 billion properties.

Ondoy’s wrath is not the first ever and would probably not the last. Listed below are the most destructive typhoons experienced by the Philippines:

  • Storm: Thelma/Uring (1991)
Dates of impact: November 2 to 7, 1991
    Deaths: 5,101 – 8,000
    Damage: P1.045 billion
  • Storm: Angela/Rosing (1995)
Dates of impact: October 30 to November 4, 1995
    Deaths: 936
    Damage: P10.829 billion
  • Storm: Mike/Ruping (1990)
Dates of impact: November 10 to 14, 1990
    Deaths: 748
    Damage: P10.846 billion
  • Storm: Joan/Sening (1970)
Dates of impact: October 11 to 15, 1970
    Deaths: 768
    Damage: P1.89 billion
  • Storm: Agnes/Undang (1984)
Dates of impact: November 3 to 6
    Deaths: 895
    Damage: P1.9 billion
  • Storm: Babs/Loleng (1998)
Dates of impact: October 15 to 24, 1998
    Deaths: 303
    Damage: P6.787 billion
  • Storm: Nina/Sisang (1987)
Dates of impact: November 23 to 27, 1987
    Deaths: 979
    Damage: P1.119 billion
  • Storm: Flo/Kadiang (1993)
Dates of impact: September 30 to October 7, 1993
    Deaths: 576
    Damage: P8.752 billion
  • Storm: Amy (1951)
Dates of impact: December 6 to 19, 1951
    Deaths: 991
    Damage: P0.7 billion

There you have it folks, the details above sums up the list of the most destructive typhoons in the Philippines to date. I just hope that there will be no more storms but from the looks of it – the Philippine islands will still be likely hit by more storms in the future as the country is located within the typhoon belt of the Western Pacific.

God help us. :(

I believe lack of knowledge people parish.
We need to understand,This typhoon or other
calamity we are facing is not gonna go away.
“GOD”said dont be alarmed this things will
come, but build your house in a strong founda-
tion, and in a safer place.”HE” gave us this
world for us to be Responsible, and thats our
Purpose in life.Faith with out action is dead.
“GOD” said be Multiply, but be responsible to
your Family, and to this world, not only we are
populating this world, but we are cluttering it.
We need to educate many about Financial Family
planning, because majority of our population is
financially corrupt. If 90 percent of our popu-
lation dont have “GODLY” Moral Principle,or
      Biblical Wisdom many will suffer.”JESUS”said
dont try to figure me out with your own under

humihinga sa mundong ito nang dahil sa ating

your own good work,or your own goodness.
If you think the religeous righteous,or the
political power, and the people power will
save the world you must be on denial.Pride,
      Ego,Self-Rihteousness,and popularity are the
greatest sin in the Bible. Our form of
government,or our form of leadership is base
upon “GOD” Standard. We appear so beautiful
outward, but inside we are full of dead mens

I remembered and experienced Ruping when it hit Cebu in 1990. It crippled the city for more than a month. That was when I saw waves as high as a 5 story building, and cars would move even on handbrakes. It was a super typhoon. Grabe, sana tapos na yung bagyo this year.

Typhoon ondoy left massive destruction to our country, the great flood in manila recently makes the filipino people shock.

Then it was follows another stronger typhoon that hits northern luzon.

But we hope that there will be more calamity such us this.. kawawa ang ating mga kababayan.

The good thing only is,there is a unity among Filipino people to help those in needs, the victims of this natural calamity.

    Nice compilation snow, very informative.

  12. Angel Cuala says:

Actually, I think this is a scary list. Just imagine how many lives were lost.

Great effort to compile the strongest most destructive storm the country had. I hope the government officials are already waking up to do something to take care of our environment. We as individuals can also do something to protect our mother nature. Let’s make this a wake up call.
