Justice for Maguindanao Massacre Victims!

I bet by this time you are all aware of the mass execution happened in Maguindanao.

Just in case you don’t know, the bloodbath over politics has reportedly killed at least 57 civilians. Most of them were journalists and innocents civilians, including women and lawyers.

I guess by this moment, it will also be a no-brainer for a statistician to declare the Philippines as the most dangerous country for journalists to be assigned.

To be honest, I am so disturbed by this gruesome killing.

This unfortunate event is so distracting me to the point that I no longer want to watch television news show and commentaries over the radio. Moreover, the massacre photos now scattered on the internet were very upsetting to be seen.

Who wouldn’t be bothered? The gruesome death is a pure work of evil.

Perpetrators kidnapped the victims.

The poor women included were not only murdered but also reportedly raped.

And horrifyingly, bodies were mutilated before they were buried in a shallow grave.

This kind of politically-motivated killing shouldn’t have a place in our country, or any society.

We should not let this pass.

So, please join me and my fellow bloggers in Barrio Siete to publicly condemn this horrible ungodly act against freedom of speech and democracy in the strongest possible term by calling the Philippine Government under the administration of Gloria Macapagal Arroyo to:

1. STOP negotiating with the alleged suspects under the guise of Sec. Dureza and arrest those who are responsible under the burden of proof found on the scene of the crime, circumstantial evidence or otherwise, including the testimony of several witnesses. We also ask the immediate preventive relief of the people implicated on the crime, so as not to influence the on-going investigation.

2. STOP issuing statements from the Palace mouthpieces but instead ACT on the case and bring to justice the alleged perpetrators. We ask the immediate placement of the area under Comelec control.

3. STOP and break all political ties on allies in the name of fairness.

4. ABOLISH all private armies on all sides of political affinity.

5. and lastly, STOP ALL THE STALLING AND PROLONGATION OF THE INVESTIGATION. BRING JUSTICE TO HASTE

To the families and friends of the 57 innocent victims:

Please accept my deepest condolences. While, I know it is hard to console you right now as the pain is indeed unbearable. But,  let us just all think now that their deaths will also have significance with all the attention it’s getting from the media and the rest of the world.
