Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Venus Raj Dethroned
Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 Maria Venus Raj was stripped of her crown and title after the Binibining Pilipinas Charities, Inc (BPCI) found inconsistencies on her birth certificate. It was reported that the organization discovered the inaccuracy when when both Venus and her mother said that she was born in Doha, Qata but on legal documents they submitted, it was declared that she was born in the Philippines. The 21-year-old was crowned last March 7 and has only reigned for just three weeks.
This is not the first time that BPCI stripped titles to their beauty queens. Other beauty pageant winners who were dethroned in the past included Anjanette Abayari (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, 1991), Tisha Silang (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, 1998), and Janelle Bautista (Bb. Pilipinas-Universe, 1999)
Bb. Pilipinas 2nd runner up Helen Nicolette Henson will now assume the responsibilities of the Bb. Pilipinas-Universe 2010 title. She will also officially represent the country at the 59th Miss Universe Beauty Pageant this year.
