RIP Andy Whitfield: ‘Spartacus’ Star Dies of Lymphoma at 39

I am not a big fan of action movies.

In fact, I used to think before that action films are boring and are only full of violence in every scene.

But things have changed when I saw Andy Whitfield’s portrayal of  ‘Spartacus’ in 2010.

Suddenly…

I started to anticipate every Spartacus episodes on cable television and it made me a fan of Whitfield too due to his convincing portrayal of the legendary Thracian slave. I particularly loved how Whitfield deliver the dialogues. His eyes make wonders too because it transcends emotions beyond the screen. Yeah, I am totally addicted of the show because of Andy.

It was great shock for me to read on the news that the 39-year-old actor died of non-Hodgkin Lymphoma in Sydney, Australia on Sunday, September 11, 2011.  Although, he was diagnosed 18 months ago while preparing for the second season of Spartacus, I am one of those people who have been secretly waiting for his recovery so that I could once again watch him on the tv series that made him famous. :(

Farewell Andy Whitfield and condolences to your family, friends and colleagues.

I’m deeply saddened that you died so soon but you will be forever be the best Spartacus ever in my books. :(

May your soul rest in peace.
