The ‘macho dancer’ performance of Jan-Jan Suan on Willing Willie last March 12 has prompted some advertisers to pull out their ads from the said TV5 variety show.

Mang Inasal, a subsidiary of Jollibee Foods Corporations holds off ad placement within the week and awaiting for the results of the network’s investigation.

This is the full letter of John Silva to Tony Tan Caktiong:

Dear Mr. Grate,

Thank you for your inquiry. For perspective, Jollibee, Chowking, Greenwich and Red Ribbon do not have ad placements in the Willing Willie program. Mang Inasal will be holding off placements within the week. We are aware of the issues and the various sentiments raised regarding the Willing Willie program “Janjan” incident last March 12, 2011. We are monitoring this closely and we are awaiting the results of the network’s investigation.

Rest assured that the JFC group remains committed to upholding the welfare of children. We trust that the appropriate and expert institutions will also respond and look into this matter with urgency. Like you, we are also hoping for a quick and rightful resolution of this matter.

Del Monte Philippines also made a decision to pull off the ads placements immediately. Arts education advocate and writes John Silva made the announcement via Facebook, he said:

Del Monte has dropped its current Fit N Right spots in Willing Willie and has cancelled all future ad placements including Heart Smart, Pineapple Juice, Pineapple Tidbits and Del Monte Tomato Sauce…

On the other hand, CDO Foodsphere Inc is not joining the pull off as they have already decided to continue sponsoring TV5 show until the end of its advertising commitment with them.

Here’s the official statement of CDO regarding the Jan-Jan incident:

Looks like the Willie Revillame and the Kapatid network’s ‘problem’ regarding the issue is far from over as there are people campaigning for the boycott. There is a Facebook page calling for the boycott of all Willing Willie’s sponsors.

British actor Henry Cavill is the new Man of Steel.

The 27 year old actor who is best known for his portrayal of Charles Brandon’s “The Tudors”, has won the role of Superman. This is Zack Snyder’s new reboot of the franchise in less than a decade. The film is slated for a December 2012 release.

Executives at Warner Brothers told Deadline:

He’s got an amazing quality. He doesn’t look too much like [Christopher] Reeve and [Brandon] Routh but he’s big and strong and he has a very modern feel to him. We’re really going to try and make Superman as contemporary as possible.

Zack Snyder’s also has something to say about the new Man of Steel:

In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.

Barrio Siete finally released an official statement after the collective blog received vicious attacks from the blogosphere. The announcement can be read through the 16th State of the Barrio Address (SOBA) of La Kapitana (aka Reyna Elena) today, March 20, 2010.

La Kapitana pointed out from the SOBA why this group of bloggers are trying so hard to bring down the collective blog by misguiding the netizens through means of personal attacks and misinformation about the mission and vision of Barrio Siete.

The statement interestingly emphasized some serious issues like ‘ethics,’ a conduct which is said to be lacking in the Philippine blogging community nowadays.

Reyna Elena also declared that due to the spiteful attacks received from the past days, the blog will seriously fight the ‘online vilification and hate campaigns’ to ensure the welfare of innocent bloggers going forward.

Privacy freaks beware as Google, Yahoo and Bing integrated the real time search results on their pages!

So, if you have joined social media networking sites such as Plurk, Twitter or LinkedIn – prepare to find yourself on the web as those social media sites are automatically “indexed”. Therefore, watch out for those who posts private messages on your Facebook walls as these information can be seen by employers or potential employers and may harm your chances in getting a job or promotion.

Here is a step-by-step guide if you want to hide your Facebook profile on Search Engines:

1. Go to your Facebook profile’s “Settings” page
2. Privacy settings > Search
3. Toggle the option that allows indexing under Public Search results no

This is a good choice if you want to keep your Facebook profile private because if you don’t, all information posted will be exposed online. Please bear in mind that once your information is “cached”, it’s next to impossible to remove them because search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo have already indexed it.

Now, here is a step-by-step guide if you want to adjust your search privacy settings:

1. Go to Settings
2. Then, click Privacy Settings
3. Go to Privacy Settings>Privacy
4. Find Public Search Results
5. Then, uncheck: Allow Indexing

So what happened? I guess a lot of you are wondering why I suddenly went offline.

On the height of the ‘typhoon-mania‘, I somehow discovered one day that my web host suspended my account without further notice.

Unfortunately…

I do not have any backup files so I patiently seek the help of that web host technical support team while finding a new home to my site.

Luckily, friends are there to support me during my ‘web host ordeal’

Majestic Mayon: May erupt again soon...

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs) has raised the alert level of Mount Mayon from 1 to 2. This was confirmed via radio announcement last Friday, July 10.

Based on the observations, it seems that the country’s most active volcano is rumbling again while emitting steam and the summit crater shows signs of strong glow that can be seen through the naked eye.

Philvocs authorities also verified that the frequency of the volcanic earthquakes has increase on Mayon indicating the possible movement of magma below the surface that could lead to ash explosions and ultimately eruption.

Close to 500 people residing around the area has been evacuated so far.
