Barrio Siete finally released an official statement after the collective blog received vicious attacks from the blogosphere. The announcement can be read through the 16th State of the Barrio Address (SOBA) of La Kapitana (aka Reyna Elena) today, March 20, 2010.

La Kapitana pointed out from the SOBA why this group of bloggers are trying so hard to bring down the collective blog by misguiding the netizens through means of personal attacks and misinformation about the mission and vision of Barrio Siete.

The statement interestingly emphasized some serious issues like ‘ethics,’ a conduct which is said to be lacking in the Philippine blogging community nowadays.

Reyna Elena also declared that due to the spiteful attacks received from the past days, the blog will seriously fight the ‘online vilification and hate campaigns’ to ensure the welfare of innocent bloggers going forward.

Privacy freaks beware as Google, Yahoo and Bing integrated the real time search results on their pages!

So, if you have joined social media networking sites such as Plurk, Twitter or LinkedIn – prepare to find yourself on the web as those social media sites are automatically “indexed”. Therefore, watch out for those who posts private messages on your Facebook walls as these information can be seen by employers or potential employers and may harm your chances in getting a job or promotion.

Here is a step-by-step guide if you want to hide your Facebook profile on Search Engines:

1. Go to your Facebook profile’s “Settings” page
2. Privacy settings > Search
3. Toggle the option that allows indexing under Public Search results no

This is a good choice if you want to keep your Facebook profile private because if you don’t, all information posted will be exposed online. Please bear in mind that once your information is “cached”, it’s next to impossible to remove them because search engines like Google, Bing and Yahoo have already indexed it.

Now, here is a step-by-step guide if you want to adjust your search privacy settings:

1. Go to Settings
2. Then, click Privacy Settings
3. Go to Privacy Settings>Privacy
4. Find Public Search Results
5. Then, uncheck: Allow Indexing

Hello World...Again!

Hello World.  It’s me again… ^_^

So what happened? I guess a lot of you are wondering why I suddenly went offline.

On the height of the ‘typhoon-mania‘, I somehow discovered one day that my web host suspended my account without further notice.

Unfortunately…

I do not have any backup files so I patiently seek the help of that web host technical support team while finding a new home to my site.

Luckily, friends are there to support me during my ‘web host ordeal’

Thanks to the following:

• To my Barrio Siete friends that cheered me up while I can’t find a way to fix it.
• To Kuya Rob who have given me consultation in between his schedules.
• And lastly, to my good friend Kuya Bloggista who patiently fixed my website even in a short notice.

Majestic Mayon: May erupt again soon...

The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Philvocs) has raised the alert level of Mount Mayon from 1 to 2. This was confirmed via radio announcement last Friday, July 10.

Based on the observations, it seems that the country’s most active volcano is rumbling again while emitting steam and the summit crater shows signs of strong glow that can be seen through the naked eye.

Philvocs authorities also verified that the frequency of the volcanic earthquakes has increase on Mayon indicating the possible movement of magma below the surface that could lead to ash explosions and ultimately eruption.

Close to 500 people residing around the area has been evacuated so far.

It has been reported that the Metro Rail Transit will be offering round-the-clock train rides starting Monday, June 1. Assistant Secretary Reynaldo I. Berroya, General Manager of the MRT-3, stated that:

MRT surveys revealed that most call center agents finish their shifts at about midnight and at 4 a.m. At this period, most buses and jeepneys are in their garages already, and most call center agents have to wait a long time

The round-the-clock operation is also seen as an advantage to commuters who may become stranded during the rainy season as there are shortages of public vehicles around Metro Manila.

Well, as a graveyard shift employee of a BPO firm and a regular commuter – let me express my thoughts on this move:

Kudos to the great idea of the MRT administration! I also hope that you will continue the 24 hour operation instead of just doing it as an experimental one because more and more people like me is getting annoyed with the traffic and the high cost of taxi fares in Metro Manila!

A Chilling Sight...

A news from Inquirer reported that:

At least 12 people, including three children and a Japanese national, died when a motorized outrigger ferry boat bound for Puerto Galera, Oriental Mindoro, capsized in the Verde Island passage off Batangas around noon Saturday (May 22), police said.

Personally, yours truly was so petrified when I heard this story as I went to Puerto Galera last January. I can relate to the fear as our group happened to experience some ‘technical difficulties’ on our way home to Batangas pier. It must have been a sad destiny to accept that the boat is sinking helplessly.

To the fatalities: Franco Eugenio, 3; Anton Cruz, 2; Gregoria Pabliko, 58; Albino Pabliko, 55; Beta Berdin, 2; Melanie Berdin, 30; Desiree Teodoro, 20; Joena Perez, 25; a certain Yaya Tess; Nina Ricci; Daisy Eugenio; and Hosotani Shoji. My prayers are with you.

To the families of these people: Please accept my condolences and my prayers.

As of the moment, yours truly is speechless. Hope this kind of accident won’t happened again…
