Two years ago, Janette Toral of Digital Filipino initiated a ‘Writing Project’ about the first ever Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs in the world wide web. Just like this year, the 2007 candidates for the writing project is not only exclusive to the  Philippine blogosphere but from all over the world.

The aim of the writing project is pretty simple. The top 10 nomination coming from the fellow bloggers must identify blogs that inspire them and could provide something worthy to the readers.

So, have they lived up to the expectations?

Let’s see…

Top 1:  Tied on the top spot were:

An Apple A Day by Aileen Apolo

Aileen Apolo’s blog currently have 140 feedburner readers and 909 twitter followers. Her blog is still rocking steady as she have ‘captive readers’ with her daily musings about everything. I think she is worthy of the title because the journal life approach give readers a feel that she really enjoys sharing her life in the blogosphere.

The Philosophical Bastard by Paolo Mendoza

Lo and behold, this top influential blog of 2007 is no longer accessible to the public eye! Yep, even the domain name is for sale!

I guess the blogger behind this great blog will no longer let us read his humor and philosophy in life as he also decided followers to read  his blog entries via invitation. Hmmm, what could have happened along the way?

Too bad really as I have a glimpse of his blogs in social networking Blog Catalog and the entries are worth reading.

Top 2:  The D Spot by Dine Racoma

Dine Racoma‘s blog still continue to gain readers as she shares her life and parenting experiences in the world wide web. Racoma’s blog currently have 175 feedburner subscribers so I believe she will stay solid in the blogosphere and will continue to give insights on every issues that matter.

Top 3:  CokskiBlue

CokskiBlue (now named ThisisCoy.net)  is owned by Coy, a Pinoy video blogger who has collection of video which covers just about anything – from travel, events and various reviews. He is also an avid supporter of the Filipino vloggers. Interestingly, Coy is again nominated this year (Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2009) for his vlog, Video Chops Dot Com.

So what differentiate Video Chops from Cokskiblue? Coy pointed out that the new vlog is not just another blog about video blogging but rather a QUICK CHOP on his unused video clips and footages which make it downloadable to the viewing public for free! Oh well, see for yourselves and check it out…

Top 4:  Make Money Online with a 13-Year Old

Carl Ocab is probably one of the most successful teenage bloggers on the blogosphere at this moment. Carl, now age 15, is a truly one of a kind as this internet celebrity holds a remarkable position of being on the top spot in Google for the keyword “Make Money Online” after only seven months of optimization. He also deserved the accolades as he was been featured on the national newspaper twice, been interviewed by some of the top notch internet marketers in the blogging block like Joel Christopher, Jack Humphrey, Rosalind Gardner and Nick Marks!

So, what can I say about Carl? Whoa, you are definitely one influential kiddo! Kudos to you and keep up the good work!

Top 5: Tied on the fifth spot were Culture Shiok! and Utakgago

Culture Shiok! is a blog of an Overseas Filipino Worker in Singapore. So, what happened to this influential blog?

The blog which currently hosted at Blogger/Blogspot is noticeably not up to date. Sadly, the last entry from this blog was March 2008 with an astonishing total blog entries of 4 in the same year.

Was it the end of this blog?

Well, I don’t know – but from the looks it, the blogger still has no intention of updating his bloggy soon.

Utak Gago

The domain is currently parked because the Swedish host of his former website has been pulled off without any notice. Anyway, blogger Kevin hasn’t stopped blogging ever since as he still continue to let subscribers read his impressive writing skills to this url link (http://seriouslie.wordpress.com/).

Kudos to you Kevin for not getting frustrated with what happened to your original blog!

Top 6:  Kubiertos

Kubiertos is a blog of ApplesH a food enthusiasts. She blogs about food, eating, recipes, dining and restaurants in the Philippines. The blog currently has 249 feedburner subscribers and still making waves in the Philippine blogosphere when it comes to food blogging.

Top 7: Tied on the seventh spot were FruityOaty and PinoyBlogero

FruityOaty

FruityOaty is a blog of  Massa P, a Filipino-Canadian who writes about her views and reviews of life, food, current events, blogging, gadgets, and technology. Unfortunately, this award-winning blog is also on a hibernate mode as the owner posted her last blog entry in January 30, 2009. What happened? *puzzled* Darn, it was an uber good blog!!!

Oh well, she could have been very busy or…

I guess she is really not on her ‘blogging mode’ up to this point!

PinoyBlogero

Juan Karlo Licudine, the author behind PinoyBlogero is undeniably still active in the blogosphere nowadays. The blog which boasts of his impressive artwork before will now be reinvented to a more personal journal pretty soon.

I guess this ‘personal move’ was to make way of his new blog, BlogComics.net as he actively updates comic fillers there more often.

Top 7: Tied on the eight spot were The Dork Factory and The Anitokid Chronikos

Unfortunately, I can not access this blog as of this writing. The url site: http://jhed.asteeg.net/ is giving me a ‘problem loading page’ message so I can not say much about this influential blog of 2007.

The Anitokid Chronikos

This influential blog of 2007 ‘blogging heart’ is all about the Philippine pool scene but it also has diverse thoughts oil and gas, financial services, information technology industries, electronic gadgets and motorcycling. What a diverse insights, huh?

The blog currently have an extensive interview of Efren ‘Bata’ Reyes on Probe Profiles  and it’s definitely worth the read!

Top 9: Gibbs Cadiz

Gibbs Cadiz is a personal blog of a man regarding travel, movies, books and mostly about theater. The blog has good niche because I haven’t seen bloggers passionately writing about theater so no wonder it has 344 feedburner subscribers.

Top 10: Confessions of a Hopeless Romantic

Based on my research, Jake the Miserable, the blogger behind the ‘Confessions of a Hopeless Romantic’ is no longer active in the blogosphere nowadays. Hmmm, again – I wonder what happened? Sayang naman…

I mean, with a blog title just like that – I bet he can still make a buzz in the blogosphere should he want to resurrect his blogging career.

So, what can I say???

To those still active: Congrats to all of you for giving us an inspiration to blog! You are already ‘experienced’ in blogging so we really appreciate the fact that ‘newbies’ are given a chance to showcase our stuffs.

To those ‘inactive influential bloggers’: I can understand you perfectly kasi hindi naman talaga madaling mag-blog eh! Bloggers like us are supposed to be giving informative and interesting entry in every single posts so it is no wonder you suddenly take ‘a blogging holiday’ for now or forever.

And to those who will win this 2009:

May you continue to light up the torch in inspiring fellow bloggers and make a positive change in our blogosphere.

Coming up with my own list is no easy task as there are tons of new blogs out there deserving of the title!

But in the tradition of choosing new blogs that create a gazillion of buzz in the blogosphere, I am nominating my personal favorites to support the writing project spearheaded by Janette Toral.

Listed below are my Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2009 in random order:

1. Barrio Siete

The alternative collective blog is definitely a breath of fresh air in the blogosphere as the writers talk the talk, and walk the walk of its target audience — the socio-economic group who do not use pretentious and intellectual language that can not be grasped by ordinary human beings.

…And with an Alexa traffic rank of 525,142 as of this writing plus a 9.9 min/day average time a reader spent on this site, it is really no wonder why the virtual barrio of the La Kapitana is making a big splash unlike any other in the blogosphere nowadays.

Go, go, go Barrio Siete! 

2. Dare To Speak Out

Like Barrio Siete, Ms. Silver‘s blog is not for a reader with a weak heart as the blogger gives a fiery commentary on current affairs and what really matters. Enough said.

3. The Struggling Blogger

If Silver’s blog is not for the weak heart – Roy de la Cruz, the author behind The Struggling Blogger is a blogger with ‘a heart’ because he pours a lot of effort writing on his numerous blogs and still doesn’t stop creating for more sensible blogs for us to read on. I also admire this person for being a responsible parent to his kids.

4. Writing To Exhale

Roy may have all the heart in blogging but Jan Geronimo, the writer of Writing To Exhale is a surefire hit in catching my attention as this gentleman have swayed me with witty anecdotes in every blog entry and commentaries.

So, blogging world – I believe it is recommended to include him in any blogging events because his words of wisdom will certainly become the life of any given party!

5. Zorlone

Jan could be the wittiest guy out there but Doctor Zorlone, the author of the blog with the same name is the most romantic guy (hands down) in the Pinoy blogging kingdom at the moment! Armed with a Shakespearean attitude and good looks, this medical doctor will definitely awake you with his regular dose of prose poetry.

6. Fatherblogger

The five influential blogs I described above will surely flutter your heart and feed your mind but Angel Cuala of Father Blogger will show you the ropes with his informative thoughts and ‘How-Tos’ of life in general. I have been reading his previous posts for sometime now so I must say that reading the blog is like ‘listening a responsible father guiding a son/daughter’ in a different way.

Fatherblogger, I want you to know that you are a rare gem in the blogosphere!

7. Jena Isle’s Random Thoughts

Like the rest of the blogs I have enumerated above, Jena Isle’s Random Thoughts is another great blog that should be checked out by all the readers out there. Her random thoughts about marriage and life are a must read for every couple who wants to spice up their relationships.

8. Chocolateword

Just like Silver and Jena, Mahalia of Chocolateword is an extraordinaire in blogging but her forte is about family and frugality. A mommy blogger just like me, I also find her fascinating because she has the time to provide reader with a lot of informative blogs and at the same time, has the stamina to take care of her family.

Kudos to this Super Mommy!

9. Adaphobic

The lady bloggers I have mentioned above uses their keyboards to express their thoughts. Ada on the other hand uses her camera to capture blog events and press conferences unlike any other. The youth-oriented feel and the lovely pictures will tell you that she enjoyed blogging and every thing in between.

10. Dear Bloggery

Francois de la Rochefoucauld once said that “Self-love is the greatest of all flatterers”.

So…

I am nominating my uber cute blog for the Top 10 because this blog has influenced me to be more passionate about blogging.

Whew, thank God I am finally done! Pero…

Honestly, I still think there are more blogs needed to be included. In my own opinion, other notable blogs worthy of the accolades too are Social Media Philippines, Patay Gutom,  Millionaire Acts, Lets Go Sago, His Name is Dencios,  DesertFishing, It’s Johnonymous, Make or Break, Extra Super Special Batchoy with Egg and Blog From Cebu.

However…

Sayang, hindi puwedeng maglagay ng 10.2, 10.3, 10.4, 10.5 eh!

Anyways…

Another week in the blogosphere has ended and of course a lot of things happened! Below are the list of the the blogs that rocked my bloggery world  from the week ending November 30, 2008:

1. My blog, Dear Bloggery was voted 2nd place in the ‘Filipino Blog of the Week 136′ at the ‘The Composed Gentleman’ webby. My blog got the 57.01% of the vote, wow! So, to all my friends who voted for me – thank you very much. (I really appreciate it! )

2. Do you still remember Batibot? Oh well, Brother Utoy has conducted an ‘Online Batibot Babe Contest’ and the results are now officially declared. Controversially, 2 winners emerged! Yep dear readers, Ging-ging ang Manang Bola shared the prestigious crown. Check out the commentaries of our fellow bloggers who can’t accept the tie! (this post made me laugh so hard, pagdiskitahan ba naman ang mga puppet! *lol* )

3. Bloggista discussed about the latest ‘autoblogging tools’ that can be monetized if used in building online stores. Read his recommendations and decide if this kind of ‘blogging style’ is a good fit for your making money on line scheme. (one of your best blog so far! )

4. Twilight-mania has also bitten the blogosphere. Yeah, the low-budgeted vampire story too really made an impact around the world. But before you watch the movie, Ambo, Malensky and Kevin reviewed the blockbuster movie. Obviously, the three had different perceptions about the film. (The movie got mixed reviews pero okay lang sa akin kasi ang cute naman nung leading man na vampire! *lol* )

5. FatherlYours shared his interesting behind the scenes experience in showbiz. (Refreshing blog Kuya Mon. Very interesting. )

6. Bluepanjeet blogged about a heartwarming story of his grandma. Bluep, I salute you for writing a lovely article in memory of your dear grandma. (This made me cry too. Touched ako.)

7. Father Blogger discussed about the mighty Adsense and how a blogger would make money on it. The article is a must read for new bloggers who wants to monetize their blogging. (Another nice info, Kuya Angel! Congrats din at nanalo ka ng Problogger book!  )

8. Have you ever been feng-shui’d by a feng shui master? Well, K who is working in Hongkong, happens to become an ‘office object’ in the recently concluded office readings conducted by the boss. (Humorous but informative blog K! )

9. Joanjoyce calls for a prayer in the upcoming Manny Pacquiao vs Oscar de la Hoya boxing match on December 6. ( I am just praying for sportmanship the entire fight. Amen. )

And last but definitely not the least…

10. The Arroyo’s 4th impeachment result was kind of a shock to all and that includes the bloggers too. Gosh, have you seen the Official List againsts the dismissal? It was like a Christmas wish list to Santa Claus! Yours truly, Reyna Elena and Roy just can’t help but to comment on the sad decision. (What’s happening to the Philippines na ba talaga? Tropa-tropa na lang ba talaga dito ha? )

As of this writing, yours truly have just attended the ‘Digital Filipino Club and Bloggers Fellowship Night’ sponsored by PAGCOR. Here’s the recap of what happened at the event a few hours back:

~Bloggers were fetched at Starbucks 6750 via PAGCOR Shuttle Bus by Ms. Janette Toral and a PAGCOR representative. Both were very accommodating.

~Right after the one hour ride, bloggers proceed to the Casino Filipino Forum Hall. A welcome remark was given by Ms. Janette followed by a short inspirational talk by a PAGCOR executive. This happened while we were having a hearty dinner buffet-style.

~ Attendees introduced themselves and their blogs. Notable bloggers who attended the event were Jehzeel of http://www.jehzlau-concepts.com, Reynz of http://reynaelena.com, Pusa of http://heyokity.com, AJ of http://baklaako.com, Roel of http://bloggista.com and Angel of http://fatherblogger.com

~ Janette discussed about the Ratified.org Philippines Top 100 Blogs. Top bloggers also shared some secrets.

~ Bloggers were entertained by a very  pretty  in-house singer. In one of her songs, she encouraged AJ to dance with her. I actually enjoyed the dance steps as I find it so cute!

~ Giveaways and raffle prizes were given. Wines were also served while bloggers socialize with each other.

By the way, I won a P500 free bet certificate which I later handed to Angel as I really don’t know how to gamble and went home afterwards (9.30pm). Yeah guys, I have a curfew! *LOL* and I also promised my husband that I’ll be going home earlier.

Overall, I must say that I have an awesome experience while attending the event. The accommodation, the food and the prizes were such a blast! I also appreciated the fact that I was able to meet and greet Angel, Roel, Reynz, Pusa and Janette. Too bad I wasn’t able to meet Ambo. Oh well, maybe next time….

I honestly had a great time guys and gals. I hope to see you all next time!
