Brittani Kline: ANTM Cycle 16 Winner

Brittani Kline was crowned the winner of  the America’s Next Top Model Cycle 16 on Wednesday’s finale, May 18. She bested 13 aspiring models for the title. Twenty-two year old Molly O’ Connell emerged as her runner-up.

The nineteen-year-old Kline won a $100,000 contract with CoverGirl Cosmetics, a contract with IMG Models, a cover and spread in Vogue Italia’s beauty magazine Beauty in Vogue and a spread in Vogue Italia. She will also be walking at the final runway for Vivienne Westwood’s Anglomania line.

As for me, I am indeed happy for her win. But I am now more excited to see the America’s Next Top Model Cycle 17 All Star edition because one of my favorite Cycle 16 contestant, Alexandria Everett will be vying against the notable ANTM alumni next season.

Thanks Tyra Banks as you finally heard the requests of the fans for an all-star episode! I can’t wait!!!

I must say that Filipino designer Michael Cinco is one of the most fabulous designer around the world! I saw his couture dresses in episode 8 of America’s Next Top Model Cycle 16 and they were really impressive.

Alexandria Everett is indeed very high fashion here. She was effortlessly elegant too. The pile of trash was unnoticeable and she reminded me sooo much of Victorian era. Alexandria is getting strong each episode so I won’t be surprised if she will end up as a winner!

Brittani Kline redeemed herself from being a ‘whiner’ to a ‘winner’ in episode 8 by interacting more with the ‘props’ in the photoshoot. Tyra Banks and the rest of the judges must have love her aggressiveness that is why she is still in the running for the ANTM Cycle 16 title!

I think Hannah Jones will be Alexandria’s biggest rival towards the ANTM Cycle 16 title because she also exudes the high fashion vibe. She has a very commanding presence in this photo so I was not surprised when she placed second behind Alexandria.

Jaclyn Poole is my sentimental favorite for the win but unfortunately the judges find her photo the weakest in the batch. I don’t know why the judges didn’t like it but the sweet girl from Texas reminded me of Snow White in this shot.

To be honest, I find Kasia Pilewicz‘s photo as the weakest of the batch. The dress wears her and not the other way around! If I was seated as one of the judges, I would have sent her home instead of Jaclyn as the photo was not remarkable enough.

Molly O’ Connell also looks so high-fashion here and you wouldn’t have a hint that she was not comfortable while doing her shoot. I think she could have won sans the complains while doing the photoshoot! Geez, I hope she stopped those bloody mood swings because it may become her outside ticket for the win.

Gossip Girl star Blake Lively topped the Ask Men’s annual list of the world’s 99 Most Desirable Women.

Black Swan star Mila Kunis was the runner-up, followed by Modern Family stunner Sofia Vergara at #3.

Other notable stars include: Glee cast members Dianna Agron (#81) and Lea Michele (#91); Mad Men’s Christina Hendricks (#58), January Jones (#30), and Jessica Pare (#10).

Richard (Rich) Herrera, a 31-year-old actor, and Richard Hardin, a 34-year-old basketball player (aka ‘The Riches’) from the Philippines have just won The Amazing Race Asia 4. The two also took home the cash prize $100,000 and also made history as they were the first Filipino team to finished first on ‘The Amazing Race’ Asian edition. Previous Philippines teams Marc Nelson and Rovilson Fernandez finished third in season 2 while, Geoff Rodriguez and Tisha Silang finished second in season 3.

‘The Riches’ also bested nine other duos, including ‘rebel pals’ Claire Goh and Michelle Ng from Singapore and father/daughter team Hussein Baron and Natasha Sutadisastra from Indonesia. Fellow competitors and another Philippine team tatto artist Jacinta James and model Lani Pillinger ranked fourth in the reality show.

The Amazing Race Asia is hosted by Allan Wu and exclusively aired on AXN.

The jury has spoken…

Akihiro Sato wins the first Survivor Philippines: Celebrity Showdown edition via live season finale held tonight at 8pm on GMA 7. The teary eyed Brapanese took home a cash prize of P3 million pesos (tax free) from Chairman and CEO of GMA Network Inc. Atty. Felipe Gozon. Sato got 3 votes from the jury member, good enough to beat athlete Ervic Vijandre and model Solenn Heussaff, who both each earned 2 votes.

Here’s how the 7 jury members (Jon Hall, Aira Bermudez, Michelle Madrigal, Ahron Villena, Elma Muros-Posadas, Moi Marcampo and Aubrey Miles) voted to choose the winner:

Kris Psyche Resus, a pretty lass from Infanta, Quezon has been crowned Miss Philippines Earth 2010 on April 24 at The Acquatica in Manila Ocean Park, Manila Philippines. She was also awarded as Best in Swimsuit in the preliminary pageant. The 22-year-old student from the University of the Philippines will represent the country in the 10th edition of Miss Earth Beauty Pageant. The pageant is scheduled to be held in Vinpearl Land, Nha Trang, Vietnam at the last quarter of this year. Resus was crowned by Miss Philippines Earth 2009 Sandra Seifert.

It is a joyous time once again for a pageant fanatic like me as Miss Universe, the world’s most prestigious beauty pageant is now kicking off at the gorgeous country of the Bahamas. Way to go Donald Trump for a very cool venue this year as the place looks like a paradise to me!

A total of 84 beauty queens from different countries are now competing for the 2009 title and this includes our very own Miss Paula Bianca Manalo, a 22 year old flight attendant, a fashion model and a member of a beauty queen clan here in the Philippines.

Interestingly, the girls have just finished competing on their national costumes in the Rainforest Theater at the Wyndham Hotel in Nassau, Bahamas last August 10. Diana Broce, Miss Panama Universe 2009 bested the 83 contestants on the said event. Pictured below is her winning costume:

3. Donald Trump: You are not fired Miss California!

Miss USA pageant owner Donald Trump announced last Tuesday (May 12) that Christian beauty queen Carrie Prejean, Miss California USA and Miss USA 2009 1st runner-up will not lose her crown or her Miss USA placement despite the series of semi-nude photographs leaking around the internet.

Meanwhile, pageant official and former Miss USA Shanna Moakler resigned the day after Prejean was told to keep her precious tiara. Whew, it’s getting really hot in California!

4. Debut at 60?

Dionisia Pacquiao, Manny Pacquiao’s doting mom celebrated her 60 years with a big bang! Yep, she danced the night away with her precious lavender gown bought from Las Vegas. Rumor has it that her program also have 18 roses, 18 candles and 18 gifts as she wanted to party as if it was her 18th birthday.

5. Fil-Brits: Vote Gene Alcantara, as an MP for UK Parliament

Gene Alcantara, a British citizen of Filipino descent has declared his intention to run for office in the forthcoming European Parliamentary elections on June 4, 2009. Alcantara is a journalist, writer, former British Council official and an active leader of the Filipino Community in London.

Well, I don’t know this guy personally but he seems to be a good candidate! Anyways, best of luck Gene Alcantara and may you continuously support the welfare of the Filipino in the United Kingdom!
