Yahoo! Philippines announced today its 2010 Year in Review which shows a complete report of the top 10 searches for 2010. Below is the complete list of what mattered most to the Filipino netizens in 2010:

Filipinos truly reflect their obsession with sports this year as everyone seemed to look for information regarding Manny Pacquaio and details about the NBA teams, schedules and even basketball legends. Election results has also become top hits due to an end of an unpopular administration and determined expectations for change. Nursing exam results were also widely searched this year as many people are now opting to check the licensure test results online.

Actors also remain top searches in 2010. The fascination with already popular Anne Curtis went to the next level when she was snapped with a defective bikini top while performing on ASAP XV. Couple Shaina Magdayao and John Lloyd Cruz became a hot item on the web when the two were allegedly caught in a not so pleasant situation by an unnamed source. Kris Aquino wasn’t able to escape from the limelight too due to issues surrounding James Yap, Mayen Austria and her brother, Noynoy Aquino.

Willie Revillame’s feud with Jobert Sucaldito brought him again on the spotlight but, it also marked the end of ‘Wowowee’ and a good working relationship with network ABS-CBN. Marian Rivera on the other hand, garnered a lot of attention this year due to her movie projects, endorsements, telenovelas, boyfriend Dingdong Dantes and a so-called feud with a starlet on the ‘Endless Love’ set. And lastly, Mariel Rodriguez’ her highly publicized whirlwind romance with Robin Padilla that eventually led to an Indian wedding held on August 19 and an Ibaloi wedding ceremony dated September 13 also caught some mixed attention from the Filipino netizens – young or old.

RIP Philippine Democracy?

To be honest, I am not in my usual mood to blog nowadays.

Well…

It all started with the gruesome news of the Maguindanao Massacre.

Who wouldn’t be affected with this horrible news? The victims of the bloodbath were innocent civilians and most of them were women and journalists. The photographs of the recovered bodies also looked so disturbing and petrifying. The act was purely inhuman and barbaric.

Then, suddenly…

President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo announced her political plans.

What happened here? An incumbent President running as Congresswoman of Pampanga?

Jeez, being a President is the culmination of any politician’s dream, right? So, why is she taking several steps backwards?

For Pete’s sake, she had been a Senator and a Vice President long before she become the 14th President of the Philippine Republic. But it seems she can’t just get enough of it.

Come on, there is life after Presidency. She can do philantrophic work right after her term. She can see the world and/or be an awesome grandmother!

Why is she running again for a lower position this 2010? Can’t she just retire from the political arena and give the floor to the new breed of politicians???

And then again, in a sudden turn of events – I just woke up one day hearing about a proclaimed Martial Law in Maguindanao.

Hmmm, the current political climate makes me think about the safety of the entire nation.

Will these kind of stuffs subside or will it become worst for the Philippines?

Personally, I have this feeling that our democracy is slowly dying.

But I hope my perception is not right.

Just thinking aloud here.

Hmmm, the accusations is quite a mouthful Sir!

In fact, it was actually not pleasant to hear for a classy singer like you Mr. Aguilar.

The most famous volcano in the Philippines is reportedly erupting once again. Philvocs has raised the alert level from 1 to 2. Gosh, another disaster! Let us all pray na lang for the safety of the people close to the proximity.

The undisputed “King of Pop” who died last month at the age of 50, once said on his interviews that his own funeral would be the “greatest show on earth”. I bet he would not have been disappointed as music royalty turned out at a memorial service fit for a “King”.

Last July 7, 2009, family, loyal fans and friends gathered together to honor the ‘King of Pop’ at the Staples Center in Los Angeles. There were around 20,000 people attended at Michael Jackson’s tearful memorial service.

Michael Jackson made an enormous effort to protect his kids for decades to the paparazzi and the public eye. But after his death, the King of Pop’s family snap shots are appearing online that gives an astonishing glimpse to his world.

The rare photographs below from TMZ shows how he takes care of the kids. In fact, the snap shots were a far cry from the moonwalking singer we know performing on the stage.

The legendary artist is scheduled to perform his final act in London this July but Jackson’s sudden cardiac arrest left Hollywood dumbfounded. He is survived by 3 children, Prince Michael, Paris Katherine and Prince Michael II.

Death of An Angel

The iconic pin-up girl of the 70s and the most famous Charlie’s Angels also passed away in June 23 due to anal cancer. She was 62 years old. She is survived by her longtime companion, Ryan O’ Neal and her son, Redmond.

Multi-talented Ed McMahon also passed away last June 23. The 86 year old comedian, game show host, announcer and television personality died in the hospital due to many health problems he had suffered over his final month.

Billy Mays

Billy Mays, a popular television pitchman for OxiClean, Orange Glo and other cleaning products in the United Stated was found dead last June 28. His head was hit during a rough plane landing and slept without seeking medical help. His wife found him unresponsive the morning after and was pronounced death at 7:45am. He was 50 years old.

I must say that death is really like a thief in the night and we never really know when our time is up. Yeah, not even money, fame and fortune can stop it from coming. So friends, let’s all pray for the souls of these great people. May they rest in peace.

Let us also don’t forget to reflect on our own lives and cherish every moments we have in this lifetime.
