		</div>
<p>Topics on religion always causes a stir among people and as much as possible, talking about the issue during parties, meetings or gathering is being avoided.</p>
<p>Online, looks like Google is taking a different approach about the matter. Take this simple test:</p>
<p>Type in <em>&#8216;Christianity is&#8217;</em> at Google and you will find a bunch of negative recommendations on their drop down. Here is the screen shot below:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a rel="attachment wp-att-3897" href="http://dearbloggery.com/2010/01/09/google-blocking-negative-searches-on-islam/christianityis/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3897" title="christianityis" src="http://dearbloggery.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/christianityis.jpg" alt="christianityis" width="300" height="217" /></a></p>
<p><span id="more-3896"></span><br />
Now try it with a number of religions and you will see the same thing.</p>
<p>But when you type in <em>&#8216;Islam is&#8217;</em>, Google seems to systematically blocks the search. In fact, there is no recommendations at all. Look at the screen shot below:</p>
<p style="text-align: center;"><a rel="attachment wp-att-3898" href="http://dearbloggery.com/2010/01/09/google-blocking-negative-searches-on-islam/islamis/"><img class="aligncenter size-full wp-image-3898" title="islamis" src="http://dearbloggery.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/01/islamis.jpg" alt="islamis" width="300" height="126" /></a></p>
<p>So why is Google blocking the search recommendations?</p>
<p>Google <a href="http://www.google.com/support/websearch/bin/answer.py?hl=en&amp;answer=106230" target="_hplink">explains</a> how its Google Suggest feature works:</p>
<blockquote><p>As you type, Google Suggest communicates with Google and comes back with the suggestions we show. If you&#8217;re signed in to your Google Account and have Web History enabled, suggestions are drawn from searches you&#8217;ve done, searches done by users all over the world, sites in our search index, and ads in our advertising network.</p></blockquote>
<p>So, what do you think?</p>

<p><a href="http://www.power.com"><strong>Power.com</strong></a> has sued <a href="http://www.facebook.com"><strong>Facebook</strong></a>, a San Francisco based aggregator of social networking sites, on Friday. The new player in networking site <a href="http://news.cnet.com/facebook-sues-social-network-aggregator-power.com/"><strong>sued</strong></a> Facebook in a California court to try to resolve who owns data on social networking websites &#8212; users or the sites. <span id="more-2286"></span></p>
<p>The small Web company named Power.com lets users simultaneously access several social networks, including <a href="http://myspace.com"><strong>MySpace</strong></a> and <a href="http://twitter.com"><strong>Twitter</strong></a>. But Facebook did not join the bandwagon and disallowed Power from doing so. In fact, Facebook filed a lawsuit against Power over it last yer.</p>
<p>Facebook said it will fight a countersuit filed by Power.com, saying the company puts Facebook&#8217;s member information at risk.</p>
<blockquote><p>Hmmm, let the data wars begin!</p></blockquote>
